Learning Through Serving!
What is Service Learning?
Service Learning is a method of teaching and learning that challenges students to identify, research, propose, and implement solutions to real needs in their schools, and communities as part of their curriculum. Projects address local, regional, national, and global issues. Students apply academic, social, and personal skills in authentic educational experiences that integrate meaningful community service where learning occurs through a cycle of action and reflection.
The Service Learning Coordinator assists teachers and students in projects that address the needs of organizations: local, national, and international, and serves as a liaison with local businesses and community leaders that are interested in exploring new ways to connect students with the community and bring the community into the schools.
